== Biography ==
David was born in Ireland in 1752. Parents unknown. He immigrated to Nova Scotia before 1770. He married Margaret Archibald in Nov. 28, 1775 at Truro. David was appointed constable of Truro Township in 1778. The couple had 6 children (see Margaret's profile) He died in 1788 and is buried at Truro, Colchester Co., Nova Scotia and buried at Robie Street Cemetery. Occupation: Farmer. Information from Our Nelson Ancestors by James Retson about David:On March 24, 1768 a list of persons are to have land laid out for them on the North side of Minas Bason between Londonderry. On 21 June 1770 he purchased 500 acres and 100 acres in Derry Village in Truro, Nova Scotia. A map entitled 'David Nelsons Farm containing 500 acres surveyed for him Oct. 1, 1771 by Samuel Archibald' shows Nelson's land in Truro Township with various topographical features such as Salmon River, The Black Rock, The Black Rock Hole, very high bans and McNutts House. On Sept 13, 1770 David Nelson was one of 50 Subscribers Elders Freeholders and other inhabitants of the Township of Truro and Members of the Presbyterian Congregation who signed a Call to Rev. Daniel Cock to come to Truro. At one time the Author owned to communion tokens of this Reverent.

Margaret was born in 1759 to Samuel Archibald and Eleanor Taylor. She first married David Nelson and 1775-1788 then married Jeremiah Murphy in 1789. She died in 1794 at Truro. (see children below). Margaret was the Mother of 8 children.
