Samuel was the second of four brothers (David, Samuel, James and Thomas) who emigrated from New Hampshire to Nova Scotia. He arrived in Nova Scotia Dec. 13, 1762 at Fort Belcher as a Grantee of the newly formed Township at Truro. He was one of the first Elders of the Presbyterian congregation at Truro. He was granted 500 acres of land on the north side of Salmon River. He was among the first to settle in Middle Stewiacke.
He died in Truro in 1774 at age 55. He is buried at Robie Street Cemetery in Truro Nova Scotia.

Matthew was born Mar. 9, 1745 . Son of Samuel Archibald and Eleanor Taylor. Married Janet Fisher daughter of Samuel Fisher and Agnes Wilson in 1767 at Londonderry, New Hampshire. He wa a Farmer/Tanner. He came to Truro with his parents in 1762. He was the oldest son of Samuel and Eleanor. He returned to New England and married there to Janet Fisher in 1767. He was 22 and she was 17. He and his wife returned to Truro and raised their family. He carried on farming and tanning and was part owner of the Mills on the south side of the river. He was eminently pious and from his careful use of the Bible the hill were he lived took it's name as "Bible Hill". Matthew was named justice of the Peace and became coroner for Colchester District in 1786. (Information from the Directory of the Members of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia 1758-1958 Public archives of Nova Scotia) Matthew died at the age of 75 on Jan. 18, 1820 and his wife died at age 93 on Mar. 5, 1843. He lived at Bible Hill, Colchester Co., Nova Scotia. He was buried at Robie Street Cemetery in Truro.

John was born in 1747 in New Hampshire - to Samuel Archibald and Eleanor Taylor. He married Margaret Fisher Mar. 4, 1772. They had 10 children (see below). He married a second time to Hannah in 1810 after the death of Margaret.
John Archibald, Esquire of Truro wrote his Last Will and Testament 7 Oct 1812 leaving bequests to his sons William, Samuel Burke, Matthew James, daughter Sarah wife of James Yuill and grandchildren Margaret, Rebecca and Ruth, children of his daughter Rachel, all under the age of 18, four children of daughter Eleanor Dunlop, two children of Susannah Bryden.
He died 1813 in Musquodoboit Halifax Co., NS and is buried at Robie Street Cemetery

Note from Thomas Miller's History and Genealogical Record of Colchester County, Nova Scotia:
'Although only about 15 years of age when he came to Nova Scotia with his parents, he received a grant of land in the Township of Truro.
John Archibald and wife Margaret Fisher built their house on the front lot being the same on which the Episcopalian Church and several other houses stand in 1873. They owned the front wooded lot on the south side of the street. John and his brother built the mills on the bank of the upland South West of the River Bridge. They dug a race for the water nearly half a mile along the west side of their lots. Her John and Margaret raised their children.
John married a second time to Hannah Cummings Archibald and had no children with her'.

Samuel was born in 1762 in New Hampshire and died in 1833 at age 70 in Sherbrooke, NS. He married Margaret Archibald (a cousin) in 1790 and had 6 children. He remarried Nancy Clayton in 1810. They had 8 children. (See children below)

He was known as Lame Samuel.
He lived circa 1810 at St. Mary's, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia
He married first, 13 January 1790, MARGARET ARCHIBALD, b. at Truro 13 August 1767; d. 15 January 1809, daughter of Thomas 2 and Janet (Orr) Archibald. Lame Sam was known as Samuel Archibald 2nd and was listed among the fifty grantees in the Stewiacke grant of 1783. His lot of 500 acres lay in the middle of what became Upper Stewiacke village. The first evidence that Lame Sam was actually living at Upper Stewiacke, however, was in December 1789 when he was chosen overseer of the poor and fence viewer. At the next meeting of the proprietors of Stewiacke, held in December 1790, Lame Sam was appointed hog reeve and in 1791 he was still living in Upper Stewiacke since his name appears on the poll tax list. In 1792, Lame Sam sold his grant to William Cox and moved back to Truro where he lived at Salmon River.
